Gozo
We're all off to Gozo, we're all off to Gozo, La La La Laah! Ehem ! Sorry about that.
We decided to go off to Gozo today. In the car, yes the same silly little one, a short drive past the Red Tower and some very nice views, to Cirkewwa and on to the Ferry.

Daniel & Rosie on the Ferry as it approaches Mgarr, Gozo.
Well what can you say? Wightlink eat your heart out. (For those who don't know, Wightlink run some of the ferry services from the English mainland to the Isle of Wight.)
The views of Comino during the crossing are more than enough to keep you amused until you approach Mgarr. We sailed on the M. V. Malita.
The Gozo Channel Co Ltd. run, to me at least, a far more pleasant service. Clean, comfortable and a lot cheaper. I know the distance is a little less, but surely this is just another example of 'Rip Off Britain'.
Once off the ferry we headed straight for Victoria, which I think was a mistake as it seemed that all of the cars from our ferry did the same thing. 'Aw Mahn, dis am da total gridlock' and it was hot. funny how children, especially those in our car, get flustered in the heat, very quickly. I suppose it really did not take long to get through Victoria and we soon arrived at Ta Dbiebi, Crafts Village.

Approaching Mgarr, Gozo.
Ta Dbiebi, Crafts Village was fair enough, pretty good actually but more Kathy's thing than me.

Yo dude! Gimme five.
Me and the offspring were more interested in the local, very abundant population of Lizards. They had the right idea, loaf in the sun. Hehe! Not big enough to realistically make a handbag or anything else from for that matter so the occupiers of the craft village were not seen as a threat, I suppose.
Next, just down the road to Dwejra Point & bay, with The Azure window and Fungus Rock. A strange and bleak place is the intial impression I had, though once you make your way around the rocks to the Azure Window, it sort of starts to grow on you.

Dwejra Bay and Fungus Rock, Gozo.

Student erosion in progress
(Well Daniel & Rosie at The Azure Widow anyway.)
Clambering around the rocks to The Azure window would be a bit tricky for the less agile, but well worth it once you are there.
Anyway there is a lovely little selection of stalls selling holiday things with a little cafe when you get back to the carpark.
Unfortunately I was not paying attention and missed the fact that The Inland Sea was but a short walk away. Maybe next time?
Once we had had enough of that and partaken of some refreshment it was back to the car, yes the silly little one, and off to see where we ended up. Well we ended up, after passing through some beautiful villages, at Ramla Bay. Finding that place was a bonus but unfortunately we took no pictures?
It has a really good beach and what i can only describe as a 'cool' open air cafe / restaurant where we had something to eat. What you expect from a beach cafe really, hotdogs and the like, but served up better than I've ever seen. Will get some pictures next time, of the beach that is, not the grub.
We stayed on the beach for I don't know how long, needless to say most of that time was spent in the sea by Daniel and Rosie. Myself and Kathy had a swim but just spent most of the time soaking up the beutiful sunshine.
Enough of that, time to go, can't sit around here doing nothing, so we loaded up again and set off for the return ferry trip. We should have checked the times though, because we ended up sitting around in a queue of cars for nearly an hour at the terminal. Not to worry though. the local feline population kept at least me and Daniel amused while they strolled up and down the harbour wall. We never did figure out what the attraction was, but we did see the same cats going backwards and forwards. Perhaps fish?
The return ferry trip was just as pleasant as the outward one but with the added bonus of one of the most
beautiful sunsets, certainly that I've ever seen.

Sunset over Gozo.
It was nice to sit down and have a drink as unfortunately there was nothing except a couple of broken soft drink machines at the ferry terminal. They need to do something about that. They are missing out on a lot of money from thirsty tourists, but I suppose the ferry gets it anyway.
It's funny how lazing around on the beach half the day wears you out? We got back to the hotel and . . . . . . none of us can remember what we did. All I can think is that it was late, we were all worn out and so without any arguments we went to bed. Next time, if there is a next time, I must write down everything we do.
