Homeward Bound
Well all I can say is getting up at 04:00am to go home doesn't add much to the already waning enthusiasm. Fortunately we, (mainly Kathy), had packed almost everything yesterday afternoon before we went off to Zebbug.
Checking out of the The Pergola Club Hotel & Spa was straight forward enough and once loaded up with our cases it was off for our last excursion in that little car.

Sunrise, St.Paul's Bay.
Getting up early was rewarded by the sight of a beautiful sunrise, (not that I've seen many to compare it with), as we came over the top of the hill leading down to St. Paul's.
This of course meant we had to stop and get out to take pictures, as you can see on the left and below.

Getting up that early in Malta does have one major advantage though, no local, or at least not very many local, drivers to contend with, making the trip to the airport very easy. There in no time.

That silly little car.
Soon parked up the car and made our way into the airport terminal and if I'm honest that little car did a pretty good job. You certainly do not want anything much bigger for your first tussle with the Maltese driving style.
Below are a few pictures of the airport car park, only really so that I can remember how pleasant it is compared with anything that does the same job in England

No entry ?.

Palm trees.

?.
We checked in and passed through security with no problems, not that there should have been ! The next couple of hours were spent 'browsing' the departure lounge and very nice it is too. There is a very good selection of well presented shops to look in and use up any remaining Maltese lira to get those last minute souveniers as well as something to eat. And like the rest of the Maltese people the staff are all very friendly and helpful.
They are very good at making you feel like you do not wish to leave. I and I know I & think we didn't.
Below are a couple of pictures taken from the plane, once again an Air Malta Airbus A320, as we rose above the Island.

Weeeeeeeeeee !.

Oooooooooooh !.
All in all a very pleasant flight again arriving back at Gatwick Airport on schedule at about 09:30am UK time and I'm sorry to say Gatwick Airport is very effective at bringing you back to earth. (In more ways than one, Hehe !)
Still must not grumble, we got through passport control easy enough, though those without EU passports had a rough time and got to the car without too much delay. It being nice weather ? it was a good drive back to Pompey arriving around midday.
And that was that ! What I'd been waiting for for so long - over. I suppose we will go again one day. Well I will whatever.
