Malta Bound, (again), Outward Journey.

Well . . . . ! This time we booked flights via Luton Airport and Ryanair, using, once again using APH, only for Luton Airport.

Needless to say we did not take any pictures of Luton Airport or our jouney to get there for our 14:25 departure. Shame I hear you say?

To be honest all worked perfectly ok and we duly arrived our allotted 2 hours before our flight. APH did the job, though the carpark is a little further from the aiport than at Gatwick Airport, making the bus ride just a little tedious. Luton Airport is, well . . . . Luton Airport. A place where planes take off and land. Ryanair ? Again, they did what they were supposed to, but that is all. Sorry Ryanair, but not a patch on Air Malta

We arrived at Malta International Airport , Luqa, at around 18:45 Maltese time, but I'm afraid my photographer didn't take any pictures so I have used one from our trip in June, just because it is such a nice little Airport.

Once again, transit through the airport was quick and easy.

We had arranged car hire through Economy Care Hire ltd. and would now recommend them to anyone. Working in partnership with Budget Car Hire (malta) , they, without any problems, provided our car hire substantually cheaper than going direct and without the 'mind numbing ' sensation you invariably get when trying to figure out the total cost on certain car hire websites.

We were through the airport and in the car within the hour. The car, a Chevrolet Lancetti Estate, had plenty of room for our needsand so it was we set off to Mellieha, (yes I know, same place as before, but it is nice), and the Maritim Antonine Hotel & Spa, (not the same hotel though).

It didn't take us long to get to Mellieha, we knew the way and knew where the hotel was as we had seen it during the last visit. You can't miss it really as it is right smack in the middle of town and pretty prominent, in a nice way. One word of warning though, if like us you arrive during the evening, there is a good chance that you will not find a parking space near to the hotel so, unless you have a really small car and are feeling really confident, don't try to go into the hotel's carpark. Needless to say we did! It is under the hotel and accessed from the High Street via a very steep, narrow, long and very tight spiral ramp. That said, it is probably fine once you are used to it, but if they had cctv down there they would have had a right laugh at the pig's ear I made of it. Hehe!

Checking into the was a smooth enough process, though my first impression was that this is a bit posh for us. I suppose I really shouldn't put us down like that, but it really is very nice and well presented.

Our room / apartment was right at the back near the top and had lovely views of Mellieha Bay and the Hotel pool and gardens.

This next bit is a bit sad really ! We can all remember what we did in the evenings during the week overall, but not what we did on each specific evening. Now I have a reason, age, but the rest ? nevermind, I'll just put them all down, but maybe for the wrong evening. One day perhaps it will come back to me. Hehe !

We spent the rest of saturday evening, (now I'm pretty sure of this one), shopping for munchies at the local mini market, looking around the hotel and fianlly ended up in a Pub, (English themed), opposite the main entrance. Wasn't much activity, but I suppose that is down to the time of year?

A pretty stress free day all round actually and so off to bed to make the most of tommorrow.
